Our thoughts go to those who suffered damage
from hurricane IKE and are still struggling with storm recovery.
Looks like we are off to a great start this year. What a delightful welcome
brunch. Janet and her crew, D'Ardi and Millie did a bang up job of
decorating the club house. Irene, thanks for updating our name tags. We
are thrilled to have so many returning members and we want to extend a warm
welcome to our new members Kim, Gloria, Jaye, Stacey, Margaret, Deborah,
Misty, Charmaine, Suzanne and Linda.
Our trip to the George Ranch was sooo much fun. It was like stepping back
in the time of the early settlers of Texas. The docents who were dressed in
period costume shared some interesting stories about the families who lived
there. Climbing up into the tree house of a 184 year old tree made us feel
like kids again :) The next email will contain some fun pictures from our
trip.
With the struggling economy, we were pleased to see a good turn out of
vendors and buyers for our craft fair. It was a good chance to get some
Christmas shopping done early. We are so grateful to Judy and Babette for
all their hard work setting up the fair, to Millie and Kim for putting up
signs and to all those who volunteered to work at the fair. The proceeds of
the craft fair will go to fund scholarships for deserving Klein Oak HS art
students who are going on to study art in college. Darci, thanks for
heading up that committee again this year.
Our next gathering will help us prepare for the
holidays as we learn to pair the right wines with certain foods for first
class entertaining. Jane is opening her lovely home for this event and she
and Debbie will be serving up some tasty appetizers to go with our tasting
adventure.
Hope to see you all there.

Next year's Craft
show will be Oct. 10, 2009. There will be over 50 vendors with all kinds of
crafts and gift items.
